Released only yesterday in America, and still waiting for a European launch, Mass Effect 2 has already managed to earn a place among the stars. According to both its developer and its publisher, BioWare and EA, Mass Effect 2 has earned an average review score of 97 for the Xbox 360, an average made up from 29 different reviews. The PC got a slightly lesser 95 score, and, by Metacritic standards, this would make it the second highest rated title on the Xbox 360, with GTA IV being the only one to best it.

The ones that have top marks for the game on the Xbox 360 are too many to list, but the biggest publications are definitively worth mentioning. Mass Effect got a maximum score from 360 Magazine, Destructoid, Eurogamer, G4 TV, Gamespy, GamesRadar, Official Xbox Magazine UK, TeamXbox, VideoGamer.com and X360 Magazine, just to name some. And by the looks of it, and our personal experience with the title, it looks like it won't be worth anything less in our coming review either.

The game really took everything that the first Mass Effect had to another level, and we can definitely see why its developers called it "the pinnacle BioWare experience." Story aside, to ward off any spoilers, the gameplay in ME2 is highly addictive, mixing RPG elements like upgradeable skills and character customization with the fast-paced action of first-person shooters with a little tactical flavor.

BioWare's Co-founder, Dr. Ray Muzyka, is very impressed by the response the title is receiving, saying that, "Rich, immersive worlds, compelling characters and stories, and intense action are some of the hallmarks of BioWare games, and Mass Effect 2 truly raises the bar in every area. I'm incredibly proud of our team, who worked passionately to deliver a very high quality game for our fans. This epic sequel in the stunning Mass Effect universe is an extraordinary accomplishment, one which we can't wait to get into the hands of a world-wide audience!"
