Marilyn Manson is being rather weird about his obsession with “Eastbound & Down,” says Danny McBride

In September, shock rocker Marilyn Manson showed fans a side of him they had never seen before by removing all his makeup and rocking a perm faux mullet. As it turns out, Manson is quite a “weird” fan, Danny McBride says.

As we also reported at the time, the rocker’s latest obsession is with HBO’s “Eastbound & Down,” and especially with main character Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) – which explains the mullet.

Speaking with MTV News just recently, McBride revealed that Manson’s obsession goes beyond dressing up like Kenny Powers and scaring or shocking people in the street by pretending to be him.

The rocker also sends e-mails and “stalks” him on the phone, McBride says. With everything he does, it’s almost as if he can hear him chuckling in the back, the actor adds.

“I get weird e-mails from Marilyn Manson now. He sends me weird e-mails in the middle of the night of what he’s watching on TV, and you can hear him giggling in the background,” McBride says laughing.

“One time he literally sent me a ‘Peanuts’ special I guess he was watching, sometimes it’s ‘Eastbound,’ infomercials, anything,” the actor adds.

However, all this stalking comes with a very clear purpose, as Manson himself has repeatedly said that he wants to play Powers’ sidekick Stevie Janowski on the series.

Unfortunately, McBride says, it’s best if that doesn’t happen because, if it did, it would ruin the show’s experience for Manson altogether.

“You know, I equate it to this: Marilyn likes the show, and maybe it would ruin it for him, if he appeared on it,” McBride says when asked how he’d feel about the rocker doing a cameo on the series.

“When I was a kid, I worked at Kings Dominion, an amusement park. I loved that place so I thought it would be cool to get a job there, and it’s like the quickest way to ruin the all the magic. I hate that amusement park now,” the actor says.

In the same interview with MTC, McBride also delivers quite a shocking blow to fans by saying that the show’s creators only imagined it as a 3-season series.

“Eastbound & Down” is now several episodes into season 2 but no word yet on whether HBO will be picking it up for another season – so this could mean that time is running out, MTV says.
