“Fifty Shades of Grey” the movie has just added an Oscar winner to the main cast, as Marcia Gay Harden has been confirmed for the role of Christian Grey’s adoptive mother, Deadline reports.

Of course, readers of E.L. James’ original novels know that Christian Grey’s real mother is actually a drug addict who sells her body for a kick, but the woman who made all the difference in his life is Dr. Grace Grey, who adopted him as a child.

She and her husband raise Christian with their two birth children, Mia and Elliot. Just the other day, confirmation came that singer Rita Ora would be playing Mia, while today we know for a fact that Harden will be stepping in Dr. Grey’s shoes.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are playing the leads, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, respectively, in the film that will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” comes out in 2015 and, if ongoing reports are anything to go by, it will be released in two versions: an R-rated one and an NC-17 one that will play close to the book. Again, if you read the novels, you know what to expect from the latter rumored version.
