Madonna Says Daughter Lourdes Wants Career in Showbiz

Lourdes, the 12-year-old daughter of the Queen of Pop, Madonna, is no stranger to media attention, having grown up in the spotlight because of her famous mother. Initial reports said she was thinking of going into acting and was even taking classes for it. Lourdes seems to have finally decided that what she wants to do in life is to be an actress, as Madonna herself confirms in a recent interview with PopEater.

Given that she’s been hounded by the paparazzi since she was still just a child, Lourdes is nowhere close to shy. As a matter of fact, Madonna says, a career in showbiz is what she wants and, what’s more important, she also has what it takes to make it. However, despite the so-called tradition of having children tread in their parents’ steps, Lourdes is not tempted by the idea of becoming a singer and has set her heart on acting and dancing, Madonna says.

“She hangs out with the dancers a lot.” Madonna tells PopEater when asked how come Lourdes ended up in her most recent video, for the “Celebration” single. “She’s a dancer, herself. The video is about the celebration of music and dance. There’s an improvisational moment when we’re all in a circle and each dancer does their specialty or a special move that they do well. She wanted to do hers, so she did. Yeah [I was comfortable with her doing the video]. She really wanted to do it. It’s just a little moment.” the singer further explains.

So, dancing is one thing that Lourdes is good at, Madonna adds. This, however, does not exclude a possible career in acting as well, one might as well note. The 12-year-old girl has set her sights on a life in the spotlight and she’s working hard to get there, Madonna says – moreover, she, as a mother, has come to accept and understand why Lourdes also wants to bask in the glory and fame.

The only condition Madonna has is that she approach this with the utmost maturity and dedication. “I don’t think she wants to be a singer. I think she wants to be an actress. I’m fine with it, as long as she finishes school, and takes it seriously. She also plays piano, and she’s really into clothes and fashion and style. She can go in any direction. She’s got a lot of diverse interests right now. We’ll see. I’m not pushing anything. We’ll see what she wants to do.” the singer adds.
