Exhausted Madonna collapses twice during concert in Sofia, Bulgaria, report says

She may be restless and incredibly alert in her latest video for the single “Celebration,” doing a series of dance moves that perhaps even a younger dancer would require serious training to be able to pull off, but even Madonna needs a break from time to time. Because of her grueling workout routine, a very strict diet and the touring of recent months, the singer collapsed on stage twice while concerting in Sofia, Bulgaria, The Sun says.

According to videos that have already surfaced on the Internet (you can see one of them below), the singer seemed to have trouble keeping up with her dancers and collapsed twice during the Sofia gig. At one point, she even leaned back on a male dancer and closed her eyes for a few seconds to regain her strength, with The Sun saying that the second time she fainted was actually worse, since she fell to the ground, sending her entire staff in a worried frenzy.

“It’s no secret Madonna has a fitness regime that would make a Royal Marine weep. But after collapsing on stage twice during Saturday’s Sticky & Sweet show in Sofia, Bulgaria, it might be time to take her foot off the gas. Madge lost consciousness singing ‘Holiday’ and had to be held up by a dancer. Then, as she left the stage during ‘Spanish Lesson,’ she passed out and fell over.” The Sun writes in one of today’s posts. In just the few hours that the story broke, it has been picked up by most US and international media outlets and passed as genuine, despite no confirmation from Madonna’s rep.

A source who is reportedly close to Madonna is telling the British tab that the fainting spells are caused by the singer refusing to take it easier. She works herself too much and, even if she seems tougher than all other women (and some men, too) in the industry, even Madonna can crack, the tipster says. However, the repeated incident in Sofia has gotten the “Material Girl” worried, and she might even consider giving herself some sort of break to avoid further embarrassment of the kind.

“Madge was really worried backstage. She had to sit down for a longer break than usual between songs. She refused to end the show or take a break after the ‘Holiday’ dizzy spell. It turns out she’s suffering from exhaustion. She is anemic. She was advised to postpone the last two shows in Israel for a few days, but logistics and stubbornness stopped her. She’ll do them then take some rest.” the spy says for The Sun.

Below is a video of the “dizzy spell” in question. Many fans believe it was part of the act, but they can’t come to an agreement, because Madonna can be seen mouthing the words “I’m OK.” See for yourselves and judge.
