Today was a busy day for HTC, that's for sure. During a press event at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company made official a number of no less than six new devices, all of which run under Google's Android operating system.

We already took the time to have a glimpse at what would HTC Incredible S or Desire S have to offer, and now we'll spend a few minutes with another smartphone unveiled today, the HTC Wildfire S.

Softpedia's editors on the floor at MWC 2011 stumbled upon the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa too, the new smartphones that HTC announced officially with enhanced Facebook capabilities (dedicated buttons for fast access to the social networking site).

The new Wildfire S would build upon the popularity of last year's Wildfire smartphone, and should land on shelves as an affordable, compact and playful handset, while being capable of providing users with a powerful mobile experience.

This handset packs a 3.2 inch, HVGA display (320 x 480 resolution), a 600 MHz application processor, 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM, and a microSD memory card (SD 2.0 compatible) slot for additional storage space.

The specifications list of the new device would include a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and flash, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, micro-USB, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and built-in GPS antenna.

Moreover, HTC says that the new Android device comes with support for 3G networks (up to 7.2 Mbps download speed and up to 384 kbps upload speed), as well as for Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.

Other specs would include G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, a 1230 mAh battery, and more, all inside a device that measures 59.4 x 12.4 x 101.3mm and weighs in at 105 grams with battery.

The handset should land in Europe and Asia in the second quarter of the ongoing year, the same as would HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa smartphones, which can be seen in the last two photos attached to this article.
