14 DAY TRIAL // Nicki Minaj is unrecognizable these days. Fans who follow her on Twitter and Instagram must know that she’s been tweaking her image and undergoing a progressive makeunder but, we assume, even for them, her appearance at last night’s MTV Movie Awards 2014 must have been a shock.
However, it was a surprise of the pleasant kind because, as you can see in the two photos included in the gallery below, Nicki has been slowly transforming herself: she is no longer a living doll / cartoonish woman with crazy wigs and crazy makeup, she’s a bona fide glamazon.
Not that there’s anything wrong with looking the way she did before, don’t get us wrong. But, thanks to this makeunder, Nicki is letting her natural beauty shine because all the distraction is now gone.
The rapper was in attendance at the awards gala and even presented for one of the categories because she’s making her big screen debut in “The Other Woman” with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and curvalicious model Kate Upton.
Some might think that the makeunder is only because she wants to be taken seriously as an actress, so she couldn’t afford to come as her colorful alter-ego at a film awards show, but we think this change is here to stay and that it meant to be a new stage in her evolution as an artist.
If you remember, she did say some time ago that, for 2014, she had plenty of surprises in stores for fans, both as regards her music and film career, and her fashion and makeup choices. It looks like this is what she was talking about.
For her big red carpet debut, Nicki looked positively stunning in a black, body-hugging Alexander McQueen gown with small lace details on the side, and chunky gold accessories, including massive bangles and statement necklace.
She also opted for swept-to-the-side glamorous hair and natural-looking makeup, with cat-eye liner and a nude lip. For the first time in a very long time, Nicki is showing off her natural hair: no wigs, no extensions, no neon colors.
Embedded at the end of this article is a video of Nicki and her gorgeous co-stars presenting the award for Best Male Performance, which went to Josh Hutcherson for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Nicki’s transformation is even more startling in motion than it is in pictures, is it not?
