Even though it just recently introduced the X600 Pro mobile personal computer, MSI released yet another laptop that hovers between netbook and notebook specs. The new, ultrathin laptop PC is dubbed the MSI X-Slim X350 and uses a 13.4-inch TFT-LCD display with a native resolution of 1366 x 768.

The X350 is less than one inch thick, measures 330 x 224 x 24~6 mm and weighs one and a half kilograms. It is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo central processing unit, which is paired with the Intel GS45 + ICH9M-SFF chipset, and may have a maximum of 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM memory running at 667 MHz. Video capabilities are supplied by the GMA 4500MHD video controller (with UMA Video RAM) and the storage capacity of either 350GB or 500GB is provided by a 2.5-inch form-factor Hard Drive.

The laptop's I/O options are varied, including one HDMI and D-Sub ports for display output, two USB 2.0 ports, one RJ45 connector and a 2-in-1 card reader. The laptop is also outfitted with outputs for Audio and Microphone (one each) and has good communication possibilities. These connectivity options are the 10/100/1000 LAN, 802.11 b/g/draft-n Wireless LAN and the optional Bluetooth.

The X-Slim X350 comes with an External DVD Super Multi Optical drive, although there is also the option for a Blu-ray drive. The laptop uses an ultra-thin, large-capacity lithium-polymer battery and may run in ECO mode. The ECO key provides a choice of five power-management modes, such as gaming, viewing video content, preparing presentations, performing word-processing tasks, and Turbo Battery. These options prepare the laptop for the selected computing tasks by adjusting the screen brightness, CPU voltage and wattage, the sleep time and other power features. This allows for an efficient power use, enabling a battery life of up to nine hours when using an eight-cell battery.

The MSI X-Slim X350 laptop is capable of a 16:9 aspect ratio, allowing for an eye-pleasing video playback, and runs Windows 7 Home premium. The laptop may come with a four-cell battery instead of the aforementioned eight-cell.

The pricing and release details are unavailable at this time.
