Pricing and availability still a mystery

With all the new desktop and mobile CPUs and GPUs that have emerged over the past couple of months, hardware and PC makers have been going out of their way developing newer and better motherboards, graphics cards, notebooks and platforms for enthusiasts and gamers. Micro-Star International itself has unveiled multimedia notebooks, Hydra-enabled motherboards (can combine AMD and NVIDIA graphics), tablets and even DirectX 11 video boards bundled with Assassin's Creed II. Meanwhile, however, even if only slightly, the professional segment has been somewhat overlooked, and MSI now seeks to rectify this.

Details have emerged on the MSI EX465MX business laptop. This mobile PC seems to break the trend of increasingly stylish and specially-designed products by having very few features meant to enhance aesthetic value. In fact, this machine is more aimed at satisfying the needs of mainstream professionals, which is why it comes with a balanced configuration based on a combination of the SiS 672 DX and 968 chips and Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

The MSI EX465MX pairs the CPU with 4GB of DDR2 memory and an ATI Radeon HD 545v video board. Its discrete graphics card has 512MB of VRAM and is taken advantage of by a 14-inch LED-backlit display. Additionally, the system configuration includes a hard disk drive with 250GB, 320GB or 500GB of storage space. As for connectivity and I/O, MSI implemented Ethernet, a 4-in-1 card reader, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 2.1 and, of course, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi.

With all the fuss about the upcoming Computex show, it would not be surprising to see this unit on display between June 1 and June 5. Of course, provided that it is not completely overshadowed by all the other avatars of computing, graphics and memory magnificence. Nevertheless, this is pure speculation, as the company did not provide any sort of information on pricing and availability.
