Announced for the first time at the beginning of the year and showcased at the CeBIT 2011 fair, the AMD Fusion powered MSI WindPad W110 Windows 7 running slate has just been officially launched and should be available for purchase shortly.

The MSI WindPad W110 was designed with business people in mind and it sports an AMD's E-350 APU (accelerated processing unit) which was specially designed for mobile devices.

The chip features dual Bobcat out-of-order processing cores which have a 1.6GHz base frequency as well as an on-die graphics core, dubbed Radeon HD 6310, that packs 80 stream processors, 8 texturing units and 4 ROPs.

Furthermore, the integrated GPU features AMD's latest UVD 3 media decoding engine which enables the APU to handle 1080p video content in a variety of formats (inlcuding Blu-ray video). The TDP of the chip is rated at 19W.

MSI has paired AMD's APU with a 32GB solid state drive, a G-sensor, a light sensor and WiFi connectivity, all tucked away under a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen.

The operating system of choice is Windows 7 Home Premium, but the tablet also sports a few MSI specific enhancements, such as the Wind Touch user interface, the Easy Face log-in application as well as the Easy Viewer app, which allows for easy touch-controlled photo browsing.

Another interesting feature is the addition of a so called SAS hotkey which can be used in place of the Ctrl+Alt+Del key combo.

Depressing it brings the user directly into Windows security windows, so consumers can launch the task manager to facilitate management of the tablet.

No details regarding pricing and availability were disclosed by the company, but the MSI WindPad W110 is expected to arrive shortly.

This is MSI's second tablet to be officially launched after the Windpad 100A that runs the Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” OS and is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC.
