Just a short while after it unveiled the FX400, Micro-Star-International decided it would further expand its entertainment line with the addition of the 15.6-inch FX600, a notebook that benefits from some of its maker's proprietary technologies, including GPU Boost and Turbo Drive Engine.

The FX600 is, essentially, the big brother to the FX400, having some similarities but overall better specifications.

At its center lies an Intel Core i5-450M central processing unit whose frequency is of 2.4 GHz and which is backed up by 4GB of RAM.

Also, the machine boasts a 15.6-inch TFT-LCD display that employs LED backlighting and is under the jurisdiction of the NVIDIA GeForce GT 325M graphics card, which features 1GB of DDR3 memory.

The switch between the integrated graphics and this discrete GPU is done automatically by the MSI GPU Boost technology, which determines whether or not the application demands more video prowess.

That said, in order to give users constant access to their favorite videos and other entertainment applications, MSI threw in a hard disk drive (HDD) of 500GB.

Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet, a DVD writer, a 720p-capable webcam, a chiclet keyboard, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, an ExpressCard slot and a 3-cell battery that can keep the whole thing running for about to three hours.

“With the FX600 standing out amongst the competition this season, those in the market for an all around notebook now have a whole new package to consider,” said Andy Tung, vice president of sales, MSI North America.

“The FX600 delivers the right combination of power, entertainment and productivity in a handsome looking design,” Tung added.

To further enhance the multimedia capabilities of its creation, MSI implemented the THX smart surround sound, Cinema pro and the TDE technology technologies.

Finally, the device is now selling in the US and Canada, priced at roughly $899.99.
