Computex or no, it looks like IT players are both previewing and outright unleashing new hardware products, in this case Logitec being the one to make its move on the storage market.

When it comes to storage devices, consumers can think of quite a few different things, like USB flash drives, solid state drives, hard disk drives, etc.

Even the external storage market alone is varied, although the USB interface does seem to be a common feature, for the most part anyway (eSATA and FireWire models also show up once in a while).

That said, it is this very market for external and portable storage devices that Logitec Corp has now made an addition to.

More specifically, the company formally introduced a new portable hard disk drive which, unlike most others unveiled recently, is more conservative, so to speak.

What this means is that the new member of the LHD-PBGU2W line is not one of those new and fast USB (Universal Serial Bus) 3.0 models like what I-O Data or Buffalo presented.

Instead, the product leaves aside the price premium of the SuperSpeed standard and sticks to the USB 2.0 connection. Additionally, the platter speed is of 5,400 RPM (rotations per minute). This allowed Logitec to strike a price point of $110.

What the newcomer lacks in performance, however, it makes up for through design, at least to some extent.

One asset is the thin form factor, of just 13 mm, which contributes to the weight of 170 grams, which makes it more than easy to carry about.

Finally, the 750 GB LHD-PBGU2W has a maximum sound output of 18 dB and is accompanied by a one-year warranty.

What remains is to see if the outfit drops by Computex to deliver any extra items and if they start selling in a timely fashion.
