Patch 1.03 is already out

Sony is saying that there's still no clear explanation for the issues that LittleBigPlanet seems to be encountering when going online. On Monday, the people at Media Molecule were very proud when the servers for the game were switched on, enabling players to put levels online and to collaborate on design. On Tuesday, the servers were taken down as problems hit and then they were turned back on, which eliminated just a part of the issues.

Sony told Euogamer that “We are aware that the online environment of LittleBigPlanet is having server performance issues, and we are investigating the cause. We'll have an update to the online gameplay as soon as we possibly can”.

Media Molecule also released a new patch, 1.03, which apparently limits the load that each individual game puts on the servers. They are also watching how Sony Computer Entertainment of America handles the American release in order to make sure the experience in Europe is better. At the moment, the game is only officially out in North America, with the European launch beginning next week. The server load might increase significantly once the whole world has the game and more server issues might appear as more people will go online.

LittleBigPlanet was recalled and the original launch date was pushed back when someone noticed that verses from the Qu'ran were present in the soundtrack of the game, which is apparently frowned upon by Islam.

The Media Molecule PlayStation 3 exclusive is pretty much a platformer with a twist. The game includes a very powerful processor which allows players to create their own levels and then share them with friends or with other people. Judging by the beta of the game, people can actually create a whole lot of stuff using the tools included.
