Only about 335,000 people tuned in for what was supposed to be the big finale

Judging by the ratings of Lindsay Lohan’s OWN docuseries, Lindsay, she has come to be perceived as the little boy who cried wolf one too many times, because not that many people were interested in her story – and even less on the shocking revelation she had to make on the series finale, which aired a few days ago.

Lindsay struck a deal with Oprah Winfrey even before she left rehab that she would allow cameras to tail her for this docuseries, a show about her big “comeback.” She is believed to have scored a $2 million (€1.44 million) paycheck for it, which, seeing how cash-strapped she was at the time, was like manna.

However, she failed to deliver in the ratings, with the series finale performing the worst of the lot, Radar Online reports, citing figures provided by Nielsen.

“When Lindsay premiered on March 9 it opened with a decent 693,184 viewers, but quickly dropped a staggering 24% by the second episode garnering only 527,000 viewers. But it was all downhill from there, because by the time Lohan’s eight-episode run was over, the troubled starlet’s series had lost 52% of their viewers that tuned in for the premiere,” the e-zine says.

By the time the last episode aired, which happened to be a 2-hour “television event” in which she tearfully admitted to have had a miscarriage, only 335,000 people were still interested in her story.

This severe drop in viewership brought the series Lindsay on the 59th position “when it comes to the top 66 ad-sustained programs that air on primetime and cable networks, according to Nielsen,” says the tab.

Insiders say that, after the poor performance in the ratings, Oprah has ditched all plans for a possible second season, opting to cut her losses and sever all ties with Lohan, and get out of a terrible business partnership before it was too late.

The same insiders claim that the “Queen of Television” holds Lindsay directly responsible for the poor performance of the show because she could have made a bit more of an effort to promote it and to stop encouraging negative media attention.

To her credit, Lindsay did make a lot of TV appearances to talk about the show, from Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo to David Letterman. On the downside, she also grabbed a lot of headlines with stories about falling off the wagon, burning through her money and being in debt again, and diva behavior.
