Aimed at professional photographers

Regardless of how experienced a photographer is, and how quickly they can get a good angle for a picture, skill always needs a camera on the same level. The camera also relies on specially designed storage cards, whose writing speed ultimately determines how good the device is at taking photos in rapid succession. This is what constantly drives storage-solution developers towards faster and more capacious memory cards.

Lexar Media is one company whose experience in flash-memory products allowed it to unveil the CompactFlach 600x cards several months ago. These cards are, so to speak, stronger versions of the 300x ones. Both series promise to let photographers take high-resolution shots in high-speed succession, thanks to their sustained write speeds of 45MB/s (300x) and 90MB/s (600x).

"High-end amateur and professional photographers are consistently capturing larger file sizes, either in the form of RAW digital images or high-definition videos, and retailers are now providing solutions to store and manage that content," Manisha Sharma, director of worldwide memory card product marketing, Lexar Media, said. "The Lexar Professional 600x and 300x 32GB cards store more of the images and memories that matter, and provide enhanced file transfer speeds when paired with the Professional ExpressCard CF Reader. We're pleased to be offering these workflow-improving solutions to our extensive network of photo resellers."

The Lexar CF 600x and 300x cards support UDMA 6 devices and have finally started shipping to customers. Available through the company's own online store, they carry price tags of $250 and $500, respectively. They are backed up by a limited lifetime warranty and come with a free downloadable copy of the Image Rescue 4 software. Lexar Media has also started shipping the award-winning Professional ExpressCard CompactFlash (CF) Reader, which can be seen in detail here and can be found at various online retailers, priced at roughly $33.
