Girl-on-alien action ranks "M" for Mature

The BBFC is an UK rating board that decides what young gamers should and what they shouldn't see in games and films. They've rated Mass Effect at "12", mentioning that the title includes moderate violence and one sex scene. In the US, the famous ESRB rated the title "M" for "Blood, Sexual Themes, Violence and Partial Nudity".

In case you're surprised to find out that a sex scene will be included in Mass Effect, you should know that you can trigger the event by making a couple of right choices. If your character is a female, you'll witness some lesbian action that features a female humanoid alien. Of course, the scene can take place between a human man and an alien female or between a human man and a woman. We're surprised to see that there's no man-on-alien male action, this being some sort of discrimination, as the feminine character is allowed to have sex with a female alien.

One shouldn't expect hardcore girl-on-girl action, because one of the "actors" of the sex scene is an alien after all... There were some sexy aliens in the Star Wars universe, but I wonder if this is also the case in Mass Effect. The title also uses the words "bastard" and "bitch", plus it includes moderated violence, so the "12" rating seems OK. This is no Manhunt 2, but we're surprised to see that the alien nudity is considered nudity at all and that a sex scene involving an alien female contributes to the title's rating.

It could have been worse, as Bully was much more criticized for its boy-on-boy scenes and those were only some kisses and pats. Let's just hope that we'll see a cute alien female and not some monster, because that would be a major turn off and a reason to get frustrated over the choices made in order to reach that sequence.
