After it became available from various retailers across the US in the middle of October, Lenovo has now updated its online store to include the new IdeaPad U400 ultra-thin laptop built around Intel's second generation Core processors.

While not an Ultrabook, the U400 still manages to impress thanks to its 22.6mm (0.89 inches) thin aluminum chassis that weights no more than 1.98kg (4.36 pounds).

To make the U400 even more enticing for its customers, Lenovo has also added to its latest creation a breathable AccuType keyboard paired together with a stylish glass touchpad.

Moving to the insides of the notebooks, users will find either a Core i3-2330M or a Core i5-2430M processor, the latter including two computing cores with a base clocks speed of 2.4GHz and a maximum Turbo frequency of 3GHz.

The Intel processor can be seconded by as much as 8GB of system memory, while storage is provided by a 750GB hard drive.

For graphics duty, Lenovo has chosen to pair the integrated HD 3000 GPU with an AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics core that comes equipped with 1GB of video buffer memory.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the IdeaPad U400 features all the usual 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and Ethernet options, but also includes an USB 3.0 port and support for Intel's WiDi wireless video streaming technology.

An HDMI output is also included and the rest of the specs sheet includes a slot-in DVD writer, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a battery pack that can provide up to six hours of operation without requiring a recharge.

The 14-inch LED backlit screen used for the IdeaPad U400 has a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

Right now, Lenovo's online store includes two U400 notebook models according to TCMagazine, one priced at $899 (650 Euros) with a Core i3-2330M CPU, 4GB of system memory and a 500GB hard drive, and one going for $1,049 (about 759 Euros) with a Core i5-2430M processor, 6GB of RAM and 750GB of storage.
