Not read as “flop”

Codemasters announces that it plans to publish a new title in the long running series of Leisure Suit Larry videogames. The game is set to be called Box Office Bust and will arrive on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC, on which the series first appeared.

One disappointment is the fact that in the new game, you will not be able to play as the original Larry. He is now retired from his adventuring games, in which many ladies were charmed, and is running his own movie studio. His success is hampered by the fact that a rival studio manages to take all his brilliant ideas and turn them into projects before he does. This means there's a spy in his organization who needs to be rooted out as quickly as possible.

To do this, the old Larry turns to the protagonist of Box Office Bust, his nephew, Larry Loveage. In a classic adventure type game, the new Larry must use all his skills and resources to accomplish the task his uncle set for him. On the way, he will get to play some mini games, hopefully better than the ones featured in Magna Cum Laude, and he will also get to star in spoofs of some widely known movies. Let's just mention some titles, like Bytanic, Beefcake Mountain and Horror Coffin.

Codemasters says that at least two well-known movie stars, Carmen Electra and Shannon Elizabeth, will be lending their voices to the feminine characters of Box Office Bust. The title is also set to include an all new Director's Mode, which is set to allow players to create their own movie sequences using the characters that appear in the game.

The only big question is whether Box Office Bust will manage to bring back the trademark humor the series has always been known for.
