Microsoft seems determined to make a few more changes in its upcoming operating system for mobile phones, Windows Mobile 6.5, which has been rumored to get renamed Windows Phone. The platform should come on handsets on the market as soon as this fall, and, while it has been announced since May to already be complete, it seems that developers are still working on bringing more improvements to it.

Only last week we had the chance to learn that the future operating system will come to the market with a wide range of enhancements regarding its use on mobile phones that feature touchscreen displays, and now a few more details on the new changes have emerged. The new Windows Mobile 6.5 build shows more finger friendliness than before, in the form of an oversize toolbar at the bottom.

According to the news, the recently leaked builds of the platform, namely 21932 and 2193, hint towards the 6.5.1 flavor of Windows Mobile. The new touch features included within the OS should enhance the user experience by delivering a new text magnification, which resembles a lot the one present with the iPhone. One more thing that is worth noting is the presence of two “OK” buttons, one at the top and one at the bottom of the screen, something that might prove rather confusing.

There have been some rumors on the web about the possibility that Windows Mobile handsets will receive capacitive touchscreens, and it seems that these modifications point in this direction as well. At the same time, they might not show the WM 6.5 flavor of the OS at all, but the future Windows Mobile 7 iteration, which won't be around until the second quarter of next year. Even so, the OS version should reach manufacturers as soon as this fall, and the appearance of some early builds of the platform would make a lot of sense.
