Reportedly, a leaked Android 2.2 Froyo software update is now available into the wild for the users of a DROID X by Motorola smartphone on Verizon Wireless' network.

The leaked solution emerged into the wild soon after another interesting solution was made available for the high-end mobile phone, namely a recovery mechanism posted by Koush.

While the original DROID by Motorola is already getting the Android 2.2 Froyo software update from Verizon, a newer device, the DROID X, would have to wait a little longer before the solution is released for it too.

However, there is no telling on when that might actually happen for it is a known fact that mobile phone makers and wireless carriers tend to delay software updates for their handsets sometime.

We've already had the chance to take a look at the Motorola DROID X running under the latest release of Google's Android operating system, and it seems that the actual DROID X Froyo release has also leaked into the wild.

According to a recent post on My Droid World, the solution's emergence points towards a near official release of the actual update.

However, previous reports on the matter suggested that we're to wait until September to see the DROID X by Motorola playing along with the Android 2.2 Froyo OS.

The unofficial Android 2.2 Froyo update for the DROID X was made available for download both for rooted and for non-rooted handsets, this entry on DROID X Forums reads.

Users interested in downloading the software solution and installing it on their DROID X units should note that this is not the official release Verizon and Motorola should push out in the near future, and that not all things might go as expected.

However, the solution is set to bring a nice range of enhancements to the device, including better performance levels, Flash support and more.

Hopefully, Verizon Wireles would indeed plan a near deployment of Android 2.2 Froyo on the DROID X, but we'll have to wait for the official announcement on this to emerge to see when that would happen.

In the meantime, head over to My Droid World and DROID X forums to see photos of DROID X running under Froyo and to learn more on how to download and install the solution.
