The first in probably many lawsuits has been filed in the demolition incident in Philadelphia that left six people dead.

Contractor Griffin Campbell, who was demolishing the building that fell on top of a thrift store, is also being investigated for possible criminal charges.

Campbell has already gone bankrupt twice and has prior arrests for insurance fraud and drugs. The Market Street demolition site has been in violation of safety regulations the city imposes for demolitions.

Similar violations have been reported at two other of his sites, and they have been temporarily closed down.

Nadine White, who was on her first day at work at the Salvation Army Store, is suing Campbell. According to the AP, she has survived being caught underneath falling debris.

Michael R. Taylor, executive director of the National Demolition Association, commented that Campbell could have just let the store owners know that he would be knocking down walls, emphasizing that they should have closed down shop for a day.
