Finlay Colville, the current vice president of NPD Solarbuzz, has announced that, according to information at hand, the United Kingdom added 1.45 GW worth of large-scale solar photovoltaic installations in the year 2013 alone.

According to Finlay Colville, this represents both a record for the country and a 600% increase when compared to how many such installations were set in place throughout the year 2012.

Clean Technica reports that, of the large-scale solar photovoltaic installations that the United Kingdom added last year, more than 90% were ground-mounted.

Besides, it details that, thanks to the added green energy capacity, the United Kingdom managed to turn into “one of only six countries that had or approached a GW-level large-scale solar market during 2013.”

News of the progress that the United Kingdom has made in terms of installing large-scale solar photovoltaic installations comes shortly after it has been announced that the solar panels are currently fitted on over 500,000 buildings across the country.
