Android is already present on a wide range of highly appealing handsets, but it seems that it might not be too long before Windows Phone arrives on handsets that are similar with these devices powered by Google's OS. Some of the previous rumors suggested that Samsung might plan the release of a Windows Phone version of Galaxy S II, and it seems that LG Electronics could make a similar move as well.

Apparently, the company is set to launch a Windows Phone-powered variant of Optimus Black, provided that the latest reports on the matter are accurate.

For the time being, however, there is a great chance that the photo attached to this article is a fake, and that the device does not yet exist.

In all fairness, Windows Phone does need great devices that would help it compete at the high end of the market, and the launch of an Optimus Black variant under it would not come too much as a surprise.

LG already brought to the market handsets based on Microsoft's mobile operating system, and is certainly working on the delivery of more of those.

With Mango expected to hit the shelves in a few months' time, having the new OS flavor tested on the Optimus Black is something that might have been expected.

Packing a 1GHz single-core processor and the bright “NOVA” touchscreen display, the Optimus Black would certainly look great dressed in Windows Phone colors.

However, it would sport a different application processor than the Android-based version that was launched during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, since Microsoft's platform does not offer support for TI OMAP CPUs at the moment.

Provided that the handset vendor would indeed plan the release of a model with this OS on board, additional info on the matter would start to emerge in the near future.
