Announced during the 2011 Mobile World Congress, the LG Optimus Pad will be available for pre-order in Japan starting March 15th

The tablet will be offered in partnership with NTT Docomo, one of the major Japanese carriers, and will be especially customized for the local market.

In this regard, Optimus Pad model L-06C will ship pre-loaded with applications custom-made for local customers, including the BeeTV service and 2Dfacto application.

BeeTV is a service that offers a wide selection of entertainment contents customized for NTT Docomo customers, while the 2Dfacto is an e-reader application which allows users to access a wide selection of e-books and comics.

Japanese consumers are among the fastest early adopters and we plan to move very aggressively here with our advanced mobile smart products in 2011,” said Kyu-hong Lee, vice president and CEO of LG Electronics Japan. “Getting the Optimus Pad to market quickly in Japan is proof of LG’s commitment to serving the Japanese market.”

The Optimus Pad is the first LG tablet to run Google's Honeycomb mobile platform optimized for larger screens.

The tablet is built around powerful 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor and the unique 8.9-inch display.

As LG officials mentioned, the company decided to go with an unusual 8.9-inch display after conducting a series of market surveys among its customers. According to LG, the 8.9-inch display offers native 1280×768 resolution and 15:9 aspect ratio, which is perfect for end-users.

When it comes to the multimedia experience, LG Optimus Pad includes an array of advanced features such as a 3D camera and Full HD 1080p video capability.

The device can actually capture images and video in 3D thanks to the dual 5 megapixel cameras.

The LG Optimus Pad is also expected to be released by T-Mobile USA in March, but no additional information is available for the moment.
