14 DAY TRIAL // Introduced at the beginning of the year, during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the LG Optimus Black is expected to be available on the market in March. In this regard, T-Mobile UK has recently confirmed that it will be the first UK carrier to retail the device.
We reported two weeks ago that the Optimus Black would be delivered with an extra back cover included in the sales package.
The news was confirmed by LG, but no reference was made to the specific color of the extra cover yet.
“In terms of what is included in the box, that hasn’t been decided, but it's most likely to be one back cover. You’ll be able to buy more back covers to change the appearance of the phone,” said James Choi, marketing strategy and planning director of LG Electronics
Furthermore, LG Electronics has recently announced a collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation that will see artwork from the legendary American pop artist featured on LG's Optimus Black.
“Keith Haring inspired the art world with his energetic, colorful images which are recognized by millions of people around the world,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
“We hope to capture some of that 'joie de vivre' through this partnership as it's perfectly consistent with our 'Life's Good' philosophy,” added Park.
According to the Korean manufacturer, LG and the Keith Haring Foundation have selected two of the artist's works to create iconic back covers for the LG Optimus Black.
For those out of the loop, LG has worked with the foundation before for the design of two handsets LG KF600 and LG KF700.
LG Optimus Black will be available in black, white and other color variations in select European markets in March.
However, the smartphone will be showcased at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, from February 14 to 17, along with Keith Haring's covers.
