A new family of touchscreen devices

Today, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics (LG) announced the release of a new series of mobile phones, namely the LG Wink Series. According to the company, the new devices are meant to match the lifestyles of young “Generation Z” mobile consumers, while boasting touchscreen displays complemented by great style and great connectivity.

Three mobile phones were included in the LG Wink Series, namely the Wink, Wink Style and Wink 3G, all of which are expected to arrive in various markets around the world, including the UK, where the company would launch them as the LG Cookie Series (Cookie, Cookie Style and Cookie 3G). all three devices are meant to fit the needs of a young audience which discovers touchscreen devices for the first time.

“Tailored for the distinctive needs of today’s youth market, the LG Wink Series provides more versatile texting functionality, enhanced music options, wider social networking support, and a customizable, user-friendly interface and design. Just as a wink is an affectionate means of communication between close friends, LG Wink Series was designed primarily for young mobile users who enjoy expressing themselves in unique and stylish ways whether by phone or one of today’s most popular social networking tools,” is what the company announced.

The handsets come with 3.5-inch headphone jack, FM radio and microSD slot, while boasting stylish two-tone design and an appealing interface. The LG Wink sports a 2.4-inch display, being the most compact in the series. Moreover, the company says that this device is capable of proving that not all phones are the same. LG Wink Style comes with a 2.8-inch LCD display and should be able to prove as being one of the most fashionable devices on the market.

The last in the family, LG Wink 3G, sports enhanced data connectivity capabilities, keeping users close to their friends and family at all times. It also includes push-delivery technology, as well as improved email features. This handset, as well as the entire LG Wink Series, should land on the market in Europe and the Middle East in mid-August. Latin America, CIS and select Asian countries, including China, should receive it at a later date.

“All the Wink phones offer an intuitive and easy-to-use virtual QWERTY keypad allows for easy texting without the bulk of a physical keyboard. The keypad can be switched from portrait to landscape mode, providing young users with a much more convenient texting method.
