LG's GD910 has been unveiled to the world as the first 3G touch watch phone ever. Indeed, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics did a great job at packing all the capabilities of a 3G-enabled phone within a watch case, and now the device is available for purchase in France via Orange. The price of the watch phone is as impressive as its capabilities, namely €899 (or $1,290) upon the signing of a one- or two-year contract agreement with the carrier.

The device was announced to become available with the operator quite a while ago, yet not details on the price it will come with have been available until now. Expected to cost somewhere around£1,000 (more than $1,650), the LG GD910 went on sale a little cheaper, though still expensive enough for the average consumer.

This telephone is worn as a watch and allows the user to call, send and receive SMS, make video calls and be contacted at any time, for example during a sports session or shopping trip. Bluetooth technology makes the watchphone practical and comfortable to use (keypad, loudspeaker function or earpiece). It features LG’s most advanced voice recognition and synthesis technologies, which are particularly useful when on the move. It is available from 6 August 2009 exclusively from Orange at its website, starting from €899 with subscription to an Origami star, first, jet or Origami plus package (12 or 24-month contract).” the carrier says.

What those willing to spend that amount of money on it will receive includes an 1.43-inch touchscreen display, coupled with a simple, fluid interface, along with a VGA camera, which enables them to make video calls, compatibility with Orange 3G/3G+ mobile broadband, all in a 14mm thick device. In addition, the LG GD910 is also splash resistant, compliant with the IPX4 standard. According to Orange, its subscribers will also be able to acquire the device via the “Change your Mobile” program.
