Video game developer and publisher Konami has officially unveiled Pro Evolution Soccer 2013, after teasing it all through last week, and has promised that the new football simulation, which will be launched during the fall, will mark a return to the roots of the series.

The game will be launched on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the Nintendo Wii, the PC, the PS2, the PlayStation Portable handheld and the Nintendo 3DS.

The main features of Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 will introduce mechanics that allow total freedom over ball control, a new dynamic first touch system and full manual passing and shooting.

The development team has also reduced the speed for dribbling and changed the way one-two passes are handled.

A new defensive system also allow for more delaying tactics while keepers will have better ball distribution and will get more control over their movement.

Konami has also announced a new feature called ProActive AI, which enhances the realism of the series and a PlayerID concept, which will focus on how a player develops both during matches and when it is off the pitch.

Jon Murphy, who is the leader of the European development team working on PES 2013, has stated, “This is an exciting time to be part of the PES community, and PES 2013 marks a new level of playability with the return to our key ethos of utter control and freedom.”

He added, “Football is all about making magic happen with skill and precision, and PES 2013 truly encapsulates this. Fresh faces within the development team and some very exciting ideas will breathe new life into the PES series, and we look forward to showing what we can do in the coming months.”

PES 2012 has lived in the shadow of FIFA 12, the EA Sports rival that is still seeing solid sales more than six months after launch.
