Star says getting on a treadmill every day would make her suicidal, dancing is better

When television actress Kirstie Alley started negotiations with ABC to become a contestant on Dancing With the Stars on the previous season, many believed she'd fail, but she emerged a new woman from it. She's still keeping the weight off with dancing.

Her fans must have kept a close eye on her remarkable progress on the show, which not only translated into good scores from the judges but also into a new, slimmer figure and better health for Kirstie.

She may be done with DWTS but she's not done with dancing altogether, she says in a recent interview with People magazine.

In fact, this is how she manages to keep the weight off because she'd probably turn suicidal if she had to get on a treadmill every single day of her life.

Clearly, Kirstie needs to be strongly motivated to work out.

“Maintenance probably is the hardest part,” the 60-year-old actress says for the celebrity magazine.

“I dance almost every day. [Being on DWTS] gave me something that I can do every day that I actually love that doesn’t feel like a hardship or a grind,” Kirstie explains.

“Come on, getting on a treadmill every day would make me slit my throat,” she adds.

By dancing, she stays in shape without feeling like she's doing a chore. She's having fun and keeping the extra pounds off at the same time and, as she sees it, she has her DWTS partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy to thank for that.

“To warm up, I do the cha cha that Maks and I did,” the star says. She's now working with a teacher that does ballroom fitness with her and it “kicks your [butt], it’s crazy.”

However, staying in shape is also down to eating right. Kirstie also uses a weight loss product, Rescue Me, which she also endorses.

“I probably have more energy than I’ve ever had in my life,” she says, praising the weight loss program.
