Kingston has announced the availability of its new, OS X-compatible flash drive, the DataTraveler Vault – Privacy Edition (DTVP). According to its maker, the USB flash drive is compatible with Apple Mac operating systems OS X 10.4x – 10.5x. Storage capacities range from 2GB to 32GB.

Proudly unveiling the capabilities of the DataTraveler Vault – Privacy Edition flash drive, Kingston points out its ability to secure data onboard via the hardware-based, on-the-fly, 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Using fast data transfer rates, the drive is protected from brute-force attacks by locking down after ten unsuccessful login attempts, Kingston reveals.

The company shares that, upon lockdown, a reformat is necessary to make the Flash drive operable again. Moreover, the DTVP is made of aluminum and is waterproof up to a depth of four feet, adding even more protection.
