Legal representative says reality star didn't fake nuptials to Kris Humphries for fame

Kim Kardashian isn't personally denying anymore that her wedding to Kris Humphries was a sham, but she's making sure her people are doing all the talking for her. Her attorney is telling TMZ it's ridiculous to assume that such a major event was staged.

As fans must know, ever since Kardashian filed for divorce, there's been a lot of speculation about how she might have staged her wedding (and marriage) for the cameras, to get a boost in the ratings for her reality show and for the money she made off the ceremony.

So far, several people connected directly to Kim have denied such reports, including Kim herself, who said she married “for love,” stressing she was offended she even had to deny it.

Now, it's her attorney's turn to do the talking: Laura Wasser, who also repped Kim in prenup negotiations, calls the claims absurd and even hilarious to a point.

“Our office did indeed negotiate and prepare a prenup for Ms. Kardashian. Given what I know regarding that document, it is not plausible that this marriage was a sham,” Wasser says in a statement to the aforementioned celebrity website.

Moreover, she points out to the prenup and how difficult negotiations for it were: Kim wouldn't have gone through all this if she only planned on divorcing Kris after 72 days, Wasser says.

“Wasser – who is notorious for not speaking publicly about her cases - tells us the negotiations were 'prolonged' and dealt with financial issues 'that go well into the future' – markers that would not be present if someone intended a short marriage from the get go,” TMZ writes after speaking with Kardashian's representative.

Another insider, this time unnamed, tells TMZ that's what skeptics need to consider before they accuse Kim of staging her wedding: to the prenup, whose clauses cover her career plans in the long run.

“Why on earth would they [Kim, Kris and their lawyers] create a document which looks far into the future if they planned a marriage that would only last a few months,” says the tipster.
