Get ready for Kim Kardashian the pop star: on New Year’s Eve at Tao, the socialite turned fashion designer turned television personality, debuted her first song, a collaboration with The Dream called “Turn It Up.”

Word that Kim was planning to give music a try got out last month, when one of her friends spilled the beans to the media. At the time, Kim hadn’t said anything about the material.

In recent days, though, she hinted on Twitter she had a big surprise in store for fans, saying she’d post updates as soon as possible. She was referring to the video she shot with Kanye West.

Before that arrives, though, her fans can get a first taste of her music, thanks to an unexpected performance she put on right after ringing in the new year.

“Hi you guys, I didn’t mean to, but I did this song with The Dream, and it’s really fun,” Kim told the packed club. “I hope you guys like it!” she said before she sang.

Also on Twitter, Kim teased her fans and followers with photos from her upcoming video, her first, which also happens to feature her friend, rapper Kanye West, Us Magazine informs.

“2011 is all about trying new things and going for it! I’m starting mine with something fun and crazy!” she wrote, posting two photos from her video shortly after.

In one, she’s seen with “Bo Derek braids,” while in the other she bears a striking resemblance to Rihanna: oversized shades, bangs and bright red lips.

As for the name of the song, confirmation is still pending on whether it’s really called “Turn It On,” though the video below seems to hint that this is the title.

Plus, Kim tweeted last week that, “It’s going down in here!!!… I’m turning it ooooonnnn!!!!” No release date has been announced yet.

Below is a taste of Kim’s music debut. The audio is of poor quality but it’s enough to help you see what you should expect with her first album.
