Killzone 3, the first-person shooter from developer Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony that arrived exclusive on the PlayStation 3, has managed to take the number one position in the United Kingdom video-game chart in its first week on sale.

The performance achieved by Killzone 3 is all the more impressive when taking into account that it sold all its copies on the PS3 and managed to beat into second place Bulletstorm, another first-person shooter which also launched on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and on the PC.

Bulletstorm, which was created by People Can Fly and focuses on the kill-with-skill system and on an almost puzzle-like approach to the shooter genre, might take the first position next week, because of its multiplatform presence.

Call of Duty: Black Ops from Treyarch and from Activision has been pushed back into third place in the chart because of the two new releases and with other big games coming up the best selling game of 2010 will probably continue to loose pace.

FIFA 11 from EA Sports has managed another comeback, going up one place from fifth place to fourth, probably because of the launch of a new major update for the Ultimate Team game mode.

Just Dance 2 from Ubisoft has also gone up one place from sixth to fifth while Dead Space 2, the horror shooter from Electronic Arts and Visceral, has seen a drop of three places to land in the sixth position of the United Kingdom chart.

The fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds from Capcom has seen the biggest drop in the top ten, going from second to seventh in just seven days, while eight place is occupied by Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the racing game from Electronic Arts and Criterion.

Wii Party also mounted a comeback to number nine coming from 14 while Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood closes down the top ten.
