Killzone 2 was hyped up as being one of the biggest blockbuster titles for the PlayStation 3 this year. After a long and hard development process from the team at Guerrilla Games, players were anxious to try out the title and go wild on the opposing Helghast forces in the single player campaign and on their friends in the multiplayer one.

Sadly, while the game was quite good, a lot of people complained about the sluggish and heavy default controls. Even though this could have been changed in the options menu, their calls for help weren't left unanswered, as Guerrilla Games has just released a new patch, 1.27, bringing a “high precision” control scheme.

Here's what Eric Boltjes, lead online game designer, revealed about the option, “When this option is switched on, it makes the analog sticks more responsive to small movements. Turned off, the controls behave exactly as they did before the patch. It's not a radical overhaul of the control system, so the layout and the ‘weight' of the controls remain the same. Still, a lot of us here at Guerrilla really enjoy the new High Precision option, so we've decided to switch it on by default for new players. Existing Killzone 2 players will have the option turned off by default after patching – we wouldn't want to force a sudden change to the controls on you!”

So, it seems that the studio behind this very successful shooter has left the matter of the controls in the hands of players and will let them decide how they want to play the game. Hopefully, this will make a lot of fans more satisfied with the overall experience. Other changes have also been made in the patch, including those related to the finding and playing with friends option or a few for the Skirmish mode and the overall balance of Killzone 2.
