Spears’ ex sees upcoming reality as launching pad

After a judge pronounced the messy marriage between singer Britney Spears and dancer slash aspiring rapper Kevin Federline dead, he fell out of the spotlight. K-Fed, as he was once known, became a more dedicated father, spent more time around the house and gained a lot of weight. All that will hopefully change soon enough, as Federline is eyeing a comeback in the music industry, MSNBC’s The Scoop says.

As we also reported a while back, Federline had signed up to appear on the next season of VH1’s reality show “Celebrity Fit Club.” The show will not only help him lose the extra weight he’s been packing on in recent months, but also allow him to get more exposure in the media. Once he’s lost the weight, people will already know him for the new man that he is, which, in turn, will enable him to focus on his music again and perhaps toy with the idea of a career in television.

“He thinks that if he goes on the show, loses a ton of weight, and seems really likeable, he’ll get more deals afterward. The way he sees it, he could have another show after ‘Fit Club,’ and that would open the door to working on music again, maybe even a fashion line.” an unnamed, but reportedly reliable, source says for the aforementioned e-zine. However, as of now, Federline’s glorious return to the music scene is still in the concept stage, pending on how audiences will receive his stint on the weight-loss reality show.

Speaking of which, Federline sees VH1’s show as his golden meal ticket, pun intended. In order to make himself more likeable for the audiences, the one-time rapper has even come out with an ingenious master plan: that of overeating and getting bigger and bigger before the premiere of the show, so that, once it progresses, his weigh loss would be more drastic. This way, he would come off as more endearing, The Scoop writes.

“Another young famous-for-nothing celebrity who will cash in on reality is Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’ ex. When he joins the cast of ‘Celebrity Fit Club,’ which premieres Feb. 14, he’ll land a $100,000 payday, according to several sources familiar with Federline’s negotiations. That payday has come at cost, though. Federline has been overeating to get ready for the show. After he found out the casting was definite, ‘he started putting on even more weight on purpose,’ a source told Us Weekly.” The Scoop further explains of Federline’s master plan to get back into the good graces of the public.
