Katie Waissel’s father says she’s heartbroken, considering leaving X Factor because of negativity

Katie Waissel, proclaimed by the British media just recently the most hated X Factor contestant ever to appear on the show, is still shocked by how much negativity she’s receiving from the fans.

The aspiring pop star, who walked in the X Factor auditions claiming she wanted to be an “icon,” is reportedly so disheartened about the whole experience that no one can predict how much longer she can make it on the show.

After all, she is believed to have told producers once before that she would drop out of the competition because she could no longer stand being painted as “the evil guy” in the media.

Her patience is running thin with that, her father says in a recent interview cited by the Daily Mail. Even though she’s determined to win, she can’t see the purpose of all this struggle.

“I’ve had Katie sobbing on the phone to me every night. She’s had death threats sent to her over the internet, and we’ve had to ask the police to intervene,” Katie’s father says.

Her breakdown seems to have been prompted as well by her obsession to know everything that’s being written about her: she spends hours on end checking out negative stories about herself, it has been claimed.

“Only the other night, Katie said to me: ‘Dad, what’s the point in going on if everyone hates me.’ Let’s face it, X Factor has become a circus where only the strongest survive,” Mr. Waissel says.

Katie’s friends are telling the same story: she came on the show because she believed she was talented and determined enough to win it, but is seeing her determination come to pieces in the face of all this negativity.

“People assume she can take all the criticism because she comes across as so strong - but she is still just an ordinary girl. It hurts her,” Katie’s friend and former work colleague Gabi Dee says for the same publication.

What’s even worse is that Katie doesn’t even understand what she did wrong, if anything. “She feels hated, even though she feels she’s done nothing wrong,” another friend dishes for the same publication.
