Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes Are Giving Marriage Another Try

Shortly after the whole Jesse James scandal broke, another similar story got the attention of the international media: Oscar-winning Kate Winslet and her director husband announced they were getting a divorce. For almost 7 years, the two had made one of the most lovable and seemingly loving couples in Hollywood, which only made confirmation of the split all the more shocking.

Coming to show that neither Kate nor Sam is the type to give up without a proper fight, a new report says that both have decided to give their marriage another go. They have too many wonderful memories together and share a past (and a child too) to simply walk away from the marriage, which is why they came to the conclusion that it would be best for all of them if they put one last effort into salvaging their marriage, Contact Music informs.

“Actress Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes are attempting to save their marriage with a romantic summer break, according to a UK report. The stars made headlines when they announced in March (10) that their seven-year marriage had come to an end earlier this year (10). The split seemed to be amicable – both of them stepped out together for a family day out with their six-year-old son Joe and Mia Honey, Winslet’s nine-year-old daughter from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton, just weeks after the news was announced,” the British e-zine says.

One first aspect that they took care of to get the results they want is to clear their schedules. “Sam hasn’t any film commitments at the moment so they are going to stay at the house with the children this summer and see if they can reignite their spark. Sam has always been able to walk away from girlfriends before but now there are children involved he wants to see if he can work it out with Kate,” an unnamed source says for the British media, as cited by Contact Music.

Both Kate and Sam were incredibly secretive about the rift, refusing to address it in any way in the media than to say it had been entirely amicable. At one point, word in the industry claimed the reason was in Mendes’ alleged affair with a young actress, Rebecca Hall, while other rumors said it was Winslet’s liaison with co-star Leonardo DiCaprio that led to the end of her marriage.
