Kate Hudson and fiancé Matt Bellamy have welcomed their first child together. A healthy baby boy, he was born in Los Angeles and comes to join the family next to older brother Ryder, whom Kate has from a previous marriage.

The actress announced the surprise pregnancy only months after going public with the romance with the Muse rocker. Shortly afterwards, she confirmed for Matt Lauer that they were engaged too.

Stressing that she didn’t want to know whether she was having a boy or a girl before actually giving birth, Kate once said she tried the unscientific method to find out – and was convinced that she was expecting a girl.

As it turns out, she was wrong, because she just gave birth to another son, Us Magazine confirms.

“Kate Hudson and fiancé Matt Bellamy have a brand-new muse: Their first baby together! The Oscar-nominated actress, 32, gave birth to a ‘healthy baby boy’ in Los Angeles on Saturday night, her rep confirms to Us Weekly,” the publication writes.

“The little guy joins big brother Ryder, Hudson’s 7-year-old son with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes,” the mag further writes.

After confirming her second pregnancy, Kate initially responded to questions about a possible wedding for her and Matt by saying that she didn’t want to put such “pressure” on the relationship because everything was ok as long as she was happy, she didn’t need to get married.

Shortly after, she debuted a massive diamond ring on Matt Lauer, confirming Matt had popped the big question to her and that she had said yes. No wedding date was announced.

In subsequent interviews, the actress spoke about how she learned she was pregnant again, stressing what a blessing it was since they hadn’t even planned to have a baby so soon in the relationship.

“Well, it wasn’t like we didn’t know what we were doing. There were no ovulation kits involved. We were tempting fate, and it worked. We were so in love when it happened, it was just so exciting for both of us,” Kate said in a recent interview, as we also reported at the time.
