Earlier this week, Kate Gosselin, the mother of eight from the now-defunct TLC show “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” unveiled a completely new look, which is also meant to represent a change in attitude for the new year. Stylist Ted Gibson, who spent no less than 20 hours with Mrs. Gosselin for her stunning makeover, is now telling Radar Online that the entire thing costs a whopping $7,000, give or take a few bucks.

As per her own words, Kate Gosselin wanted to start 2010 with a clean slate: there will be no more negativity and no more focusing on the things that could have been. Instead, 2010 will be a good year for change and moving on, and, as most ladies must know, what better way to mark the change in attitude than with a new ‘do. Said and done: she and stylist to the stars Ted Gibson set out to work and, 20 hours later, she emerged as a whole-new person. Total cost: $6,450.

“Kate Gosselin showed off a new long hair-do this week and Radar Online spoke exclusively with Ted Gibson, the stylist who created Clean Slate Kate to find out what it was like to spend a day transforming her sassy, cut into a glamorous, long-locked style. He also revealed that her hairstyle would cost almost $7,000 in his salons in Washington, DC, and New York City! ‘My haircuts are $950,’ Ted revealed. ‘The color would have been about $500, and the extensions, which were great length extensions, would probably cost about $5000,’” Radar writes, after meeting with the stylist responsible for the new and improved Kate.

The change took a lot of time, but that wasn’t the biggest problem, Gibson goes on to say. As he found out, Kate was using her old hairstyle as some sort of “mask” behind which she was hiding, therefore she was somewhat reticent to his ideas. However, she eventually allowed herself to be convinced and went for longer locks and a new color, all of which required the best of the best in terms of haircare products, as Gibson explains.

“I wanted to make sure I took her from being really ordinary to really extraordinary! I used everything from my line Ted Gibson: the Build It blow drying spray, the Hair Sheet styling, which is a towelette for hair that has UV absorber in it. It has vitamins A, D and E and has antioxidants and it’s great for traveling. Any time she feels like she has fly-aways or needs a little break this is a perfect product for her,” the stylist tells Radar. To make sure her new ‘do stays as impeccable and gorgeous as it is now, Kate Gosselin will have to have it retouched every three or four months.
