Karl Lagerfeld denies calling singer Adele “fat,” says he used the term “roundish”

Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld says that he never regrets anything he says publicly but a possible explanation for that could be that he seems to remember things a bit differently than how they happened. Take his February 2012 comments on Adele, for instance.

Though he called her “fat” even though he was supposed to explain why he liked her music best, Lagerfeld is now saying in a new CNN interview that he never said such a thing.

Check out the video below.

“I never said that she was fat, I said that she was a little roundish; a little roundish is not fat,” the designer says.

In the end, though, it helped that he called a spade a spade because it drove the message home with the singer.

“But for such a beautiful girl, after that she lost eight kilo [17.6 pounds] so I think the message was not that bad,” he says.

For those who don’t remember Karl’s exact words, they were as follows: “I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. But as a modern singer [Lana Del Rey] is not bad. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”

In the same CNN interview, the designer stands by his comment that Pippa Middleton is rather “ugly” in the face, while stressing that he never regrets any of the things he says on the record.

The interview is the same we were also telling you of the other day, in which Lagerfeld gushes about his pet kitten, Miss Choupette, and says that he would marry her if he could because he never imagined he would “fall in love like this with a cat.”

Miss Choupette also has personal maids (3 of them), a private jet, and enjoys only the best in life.
