14 DAY TRIAL // Whenever Kanye West has access to a microphone, it’s safe to assume a rant is on the way. At his Italian wedding to Kim Kardashian, which took place this weekend at a castle in Florence, Italy, he made sure he delivered his most ridiculous speech so far, Us Weekly has learned.
Then again, if you know anything about Kanye, you know this was coming since he and the reality television maven confirmed their engagement.
There is no video of the wedding speech because, as Kim announced some time ago, TV cameras would not be granted access at the wedding (ceremony or reception) because she and Kanye had discovered a fondness for privacy.
Moreover, guests were all asked to sign confidentiality agreements at the entrance, where they were also entreated to leave their cell phones, so we don’t have video from them either.
However, excerpts from the speech still managed to find their way online: according to the aforementioned celebrity publication, Kanye had the floor for about 20 whole minutes, during which time he praised the Kardashians to high heavens, spoke about his and their battle with the media and the paparazzi (“public warfare” he called it), and described Kim in – what else? – the most glowing terms possible.
He said that the Kardashians were the “most remarkable people of our time” and joined them in the cause against media scrutiny. “They feel like it’s okay to put you on the tabloid covers to sell your image, to use you in an SNL spoof. We don’t negotiate. We’re not like that. We’re not stupid. The Kardashians are an industry!,” Kanye yelled.
Not only are they (notice how West is already considering himself a Kardashian) not stupid, but they’re also ready at a moment’s notice to fight anyone who might dare to assume that.
“We are warriors! There is not one person at this table that has not had to defend us at some point or another. At this table… the combination of powers… can make the world a better place,” Kanye said.
Of Kim, the rapper used phrases like “the ideal celebrity... the ideal art,” adding that he was looking forward to spending the rest of his life next to a woman of such accomplishments, beauty, and brains.
Before the wedding, Kim and Kanye were in Paris for an almost weekend-long celebration of the upcoming nuptials. They held the rehearsal dinner at the Versailles Palace, where they initially wanted to get married but were turned down when it came to shutting down the venue for such a long time.
The rapper also held a speech there, saying of his future wife she was more beautiful than he was talented which, coming from Kanye, is probably the ultimate compliment he can offer.
The festivities now over, most of the Kardashian clan is back in the good ol’ US of A, but Mr. and Mrs. West (Kardashian-West, in her case, most likely) are off to their honeymoon which, tipsters say for the media, will take place in Ireland.
