The device is expected to come this summer with the same spec list

One interesting tidbit we've been able to learn recently is that LG Electronics' first mobile phone that will be powered by the Google Android platform might be KS360, a handset that the company launched last year in July.

It seems that the mobile phone maker confirmed at the Mobile World Congress last week in Barcelona that it planned to pack last year's KS360 with the Android operating system. Moreover, the company seems determined to launch the handset to the market sometime in the summer of the ongoing year.

From what we've heard, the spec list of the new device will not be changed from the already existing KS360, only that it will run the open source operating system. Users will be able to spot on the handset the slide-out QWERTY keypad, as well as a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper. At the same time, the platform that runs on the G1 phone at the moment will open the gate to a lot of user-designed apps for you to enjoy.

In addition to this handset that will come with the Android platform, it seems that LG also plans to release another two devices that will sport Google's operating system, at least this is what Marketing Manager Jeremy Newing is reported to have stated recently. “This year is all about social networking,” said Newing, “and Android obviously opens a world of possibilities.”

The fact that LG decided to include Android on one of its older handsets does not come as great news to everybody. The handset does not seem to feature a design fitted for high-end users, while its specs are somehow a little bit outdated. One way or the other, we'll still be able to see Android-powered handsets come from LG this year, and that sounds good, considering that the company announced recently a partnership with Microsoft for the release of 50 devices powered by the Windows Mobile platform.
