Ever since the divorce announcement on the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” reality show, Jon Gosselin has kept quiet about the reasons that prompted the decision. However, that’s not to say he has not moved on with his life, starting a relationship with Hailey Glassman and romancing a Star magazine editor, according to the editor’s statements. In a new interview with InTouch magazine, Jon opens up about the divorce for the first time ever.

For starters, Jon wants the audiences and the public in general to know that the divorce was not his fault, since it was Kate who both brought it up for the first time and who initiated the procedures. According to Gosselin, news of the separation came rather as a shock since he literally lived under the impression that things were good between him and Kate but, he believes, she wanted something different and simply had to end the marriage.

“I think she initiated the split because she wanted a career. Maybe I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, and she was going to move on regardless. I said, ‘Are you sure about this?’ I asked, ‘What do I have to do to mend the relationship? What did I do wrong?’ I was beating myself up about it. So I read a lot of books about personalities, like ‘The Five Love Languages.’ Throughout the marriage, I felt like my personality had changed a lot. In December, I went to therapy. I asked Kate to come, but she didn’t want to. She said, ‘If you have a problem, go fix it’.” Jon Gosselin says in the first full interview since the separation.

While speaking with InTouch, the television personality and tabloid darling (for his many supposed affairs post-breakup) also takes the time to explain how come he ended up with Hailey Glassman, a woman the media does not take kindly to for several photos from her youth that have surfaced recently. He loves Hailey, Gosselin says, and he has never been unfaithful to her, contrary to what Kate Major, the Star mag editor, claims. Moreover, he plans on introducing Hailey to the family as his girlfriend the moment the divorce is finalized, which can only mean he’s dead serious about the relationship.

“Hailey – it started around May. She is the polar opposite of Kate. It’s really different. I feel good about myself and people see my good qualities. I’m not being put down. If I want to go out with my friends, Hailey says, ‘Oh, go out.’ I’m not used to that. I was used to, ‘No, no, it’s your fault.’ Sometimes I ask Hailey permission, like I used to do with Kate, and she says, ‘You don’t have to ask permission.’ I was used to living like that, and now it’s like a breath of fresh air. You can have a balanced relationship but also spend time with your friends.” Gosselin further explains.
