Sales are up for hardware across the board on the Japanese video games market, with all consoles seeing more interested buyers in the middle of the holiday shopping season, with Monster Hunter Portable continuing to lead the video game parade.

The PlayStation Portable has continued to have a very good run, just as it sees a decline in sales in other territories, with an increase of three percent over the previous week, reaching 164,723 devices moved to gamers.

The Nintendo Wii home console has seen the biggest increase in sales, with 27 percent more units sold during one week, to reach 99,649 for the seven-day period.

The DS family has also seen a serious sales dump, reaching 148,265 for the tracked period, while the PlayStation 3 has registered an increase in sales but posted comparably smaller numbers, with 48,235 units sold.

The Xbox 360 managed to sell better than the old PS2 and the PSP Go.

When it comes to video games, the biggest seller is still Monster Hunter Portable 3rd from Capcom, a developer which is having a great holiday period, managing to move 572,885 units in its third week on sales and managing to stay on top again while fending the challenge of Inazuma Eleven 3 for the Nintendo DS from Level 5, which managed to move 195,790 copies to gamers.

Gundam Musou 3 managed to take the third position in the Japanese software chart, with 186,190 units bought by players, while Donkey Kong Returns from Nintendo has continued to perform well by staying in fourth position, with sales of 147,336 units.

The rest of the video game chart is made up of: Pokemon Black and White, which continue to sell very well even for the very successful series it is part of, Shining Hearts, Wii Party, Mario Sports Mix, Ninokuni: Shikkoku no Madoushi and Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
