Although the boombox mania seems to be something straight out of the 80's and early 90's, the truth of the matter is that this particular type of products have managed to survive to this day, after going, quite obviously, through some pretty serious upgrade processes, and JVC's RV-NB70 Kaboom!, launched at CES 2011, proves this only too well. The RV-NB70 has quite a serious legacy (the first model was released way back in 1998), and for this reason, JVC went to great lengths in order to make sure that this thing stays stays true to the trend set by its predecessors, starting right from the external design, a large cylindrical shape with a woofer at each end that will certainly leave a powerful impression when taken out in the streets.

So, the JVC RV-NB70 Kaboom! offers users 40 watts of power, as well as bass enhancement circuitry and a special chamber for docking an iPhone or iPod in a very safe manner, protected from the action of adverse weather elements (so that you won't have to worry about the integrity of your multimedia buddy while it's docked in this thing).

Additionally, the USB Host function enables the playback of MP3/WMA music stored on a USB mass storage devices, but the boombox also comes equipped with a CD player that supports MP3 and WMA file playback, an FM tuner, as well as audio input.

Furthermore, as any serious boombox should, this thing supports both AC (mains) and DC (batteries) operation, while also coming with a shoulder strap in order to let users carry it around fairly easily.

The JVC RV-NB70 Kaboom! will be available in spring 2011 for $349.95, which, to be perfectly honest, is not even that high a price, given both the wealth of features this thing is able to deliver but, more importantly, its undeniable cool factor.
