Disney Interactive Studios has announced that it plans to release a videogame called JONAS for the Nintendo DS, translating into an interactive experience the television show in which Nick, Joe and Kevin star on the Disney Channel. No release date has been announced for the title yet.

Craig Relyea, who is the senior vice president of global marketing for Disney Interactive Studios, stated that “JONAS is the perfect complement to the hit television show, giving fans additional access to the Jonas Brothers as they portray the Lucas Brothers - their music, their fashion and their lives. The game delivers a unique blend of adventure, humour and music that will keep fans of the Jonas Brothers entertained and engaged.”

The story of the game is closely wrapped around that of the television show. The Jonas brothers apparently live normal lives, but for the fact that they are stars. All the characters that appear on the TV show will also be featured in the game, with Macy and Stella having important roles in it. The locations will also be faithfully replicated, with the school and the firehouse where the boys hang out receiving special attention.

Customization options will be offered related to the clothes that the Jonas brothers are wearing during the day and the complexity increases when the player picks up the outfits for their concerts. The music-oriented sections of the release will have the brothers power up their instruments by picking musical notes as they try to get a perfect performance. Songs from the show will be integrated into the videogame and fans will be able to perform them after having completed a level in the game.

Disney is interested in trying to convert its most successful television shows into videogames, with the Jonas brothers following in the footsteps of Hannah Montana and her successful videogaming experience.
