14 DAY TRIAL // Though Mariah Carey initially said she and husband Nick Cannon did not want to know the gender of their twins, it seems they couldn’t resist the temptation: they are having a boy and a girl, she reveals in the latest issue of Life & Style.
Speaking with the celebrity magazine, the diva gushed about being fortunate enough to have both a daughter and a son, and revealed she initially didn’t say anything about gender lest she could influence it somehow.
Sources close to the couple were, as usual, the first to tell the tabloids about the happy news.
“It’s all about pink and blue these days,” an unnamed spy told the mag. “It’s truly going to be a dream come true for them. They get a son and daughter,” the insider added.
Mariah herself confirms the happy news, saying she and husband Nick are over the moon. She’s also very delighted that no one was able to guess that they were having a boy and a girl.
“Even before we announced it was twins, I was trying to keep everything gender neutral because I didn’t want to impose an identity on them too soon,” the singer says for Life & Style.
“There were fan contests on Twitter about what gender they are and rumors about them being two boys or two girls – but nobody guessed this!” Mariah gushes.
She and Nick have already chosen names for the twins, but while they say they won’t be anything out of the ordinary, they’re not making them public just yet.
In the meantime, until the twins are born sometime this spring, Mariah and Nick are enjoying the quiet life at home, with the diva “getting her Martha Stewart on,” as Nick said the other day, redecorating and getting the house ready for the babies.
Mariah has also been cooking up a storm but, Nick revealed, she doesn’t eat all that she makes because she manages to satisfy the cravings by smell. He, on the other hand, is already packing on the pounds.
