Intex Technologies unveiled its latest mobile phone, named Intex IN 2222, a candybar that looks pretty nice and brings several useful features, at a very
affordable price
(like the other recently launched Intex phone, the
IN 2020).
The new IN 2222 offers dual-band GSM connectivity (900 and 1800 MHz) with GPRS, an 1.5 inch CSTN display with 65K colors support and 128 x 128 pixels, FM radio with recorder, Audio player, polyphonic ringtones (Bollywood hits are pre-loaded), speakerphone, handsfree, voice recording, MMS and SMS capabilities, Java 2.0 (8 games are embedded), calendar, alarms, To Do list, calculator, currency converter and unit converter. Furthermore, the phone is capable of storing 500 messages and 800 contacts, at the same time allowing users to block up to 5 unwanted callers.
Weighing only 73 grams and measuring 104 x 44 x 18.5 millimeters, Intex IN 2222 comes with a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery capable of providing up to 7.5 hours of talk-time and up to 600 hours of stand-by time (this is one of the phone's features that can attract many customers).
Talking about the new handset, Mr. Kaushik Mitra, Product Group Head – Mobile Communications, Intex, declared: "After receiving a very heartening response to our model IN-2020, which has a 7.5 hours-long talk time, this is Intex's second offering in the entry level segment, this year. Considering that pricing is a major growth driver for mobile telephony in India – the 2nd largest market for mobile phones in the world – the company strives to launch affordable models with best of technology features to fulfill communication needs of the masses who form a major part of the market."
Intex IN 2222 will soon be available across
India for a retail price of 2,000 INR (which is about $50 or 32 Euro).
