Origin PC announced earlier today that the company has made available Intel's newly launched Core i7-2700K processor in its entire line of custom desktops, while also offering its clients the possibility of opting for a factory overclock up to 5.2GHz.

The Core i7-2700K is Intel's fastest consumer Sandy Bridge processor to date and was launched by the chip maker just the other day in order to take the place of the i7-2600K.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Intel CPU features 100MHz higher base and Turbo Boost frequencies, meaning that the cores are now clocked at 3.5GHz, while the maximum clock speed that can be reached in Turbo mode is set at 3.9GHz.

Outside of the improved operating frequencies, the rest of the CPU specs were left unaltered when compared with the i7-2600K, so Intel's new flagship chip includes 8MB of Level 3 cache, Intel HD 3000 graphics with 850/1350MHz clock speeds and a dual-channel DDR3-1333 memory controller.

All these are packed inside a 95W TDP and the chip features an unlocked multiplier which allows enthusiasts to reach higher overclocks from the Core i7-2700K.

Of course that users who don't want to overclock the CPU themselves, can also choose to shell out an extra $100 (about 72 Euros) out of their pocket, and Origin PC will overclock the i7-2700K to reach up to 5.2GHz.

“As an Intel launch partner, ORIGIN PC guarantees the latest technology is available to our customers the day of launch,” said Kevin Wasielewski Origin PC CEO and cofounder.

“Origin PC offers the most options on the market. We will build your Intel 2700K powered PC in any case and any configuration,” concluded the company's rep.

The Intel Core i7-2700K is already available in the Origin PC online configurator for the Chronos, Millennium and Genesis desktops. Pricing for a system featuring Intel's new CPU starts at $1,382.00 (994 Euros).
