To be available later this year

The iPhone has been talked about time and time again, and most mobile phone manufacturers had something to say about it.

Most people already love it even though it hasn't been released, and it's by far the most anticipated device of this year. Keeping this in mind, it is obvious that most mobile phone companies are aiming to develop and release phones that will surpass Apple's phone.

Chip giant Intel is now readying a 'low-power chip' that is targeting all manufacturers who want to put an end to the iPhone 'domination' by releasing a competitor.

'Virtually every computer and handset manufacturer is struggling to figure out how they're going to compete with Apple's iPhone,' Otellini told analysts and investors at Morgan Stanley's Technology Conference. 'If we get the power and performance [of the Intel chip] right, it's going to be a killer combination.'

The chip is expected to be available later this year, and although it might make things better for manufacturers who are looking to release an iPhone-killer, this will most likely not guarantee success. There is much more than a low power consumption chip to surpassing the iPhone.

And while the iPhone is practically just a multimedia phone with a couple of interesting features and a nice UI, for some reason people love it. The Meizu M8, for example, is by far less popular even though it offers pretty much the same features and some extra ones, except for the OS, which is Windows Mobile. The Prada phone is also very close to the iPhone's design and whole idea. And still, the iPhone manages to be more popular, for some unknown reason, maybe because it bears the Apple brand. This is why manufacturers will have a hard time coming up with something people will want more.

At the moment there are various reports on who is supplying the processor for the iPhone, with most people expecting it to be Samsung or Marvell. Intel is the sole supplier of processors for Apple's Mac computers.
